To All Members and Supporters of Engadine Uniting Church
We have a Vision, Dreams Planning Day set down for Sunday June 4 at Engadine Uniting Church. We will worship together at 9:00 and the Planning will flow from this concluding at approximately 12:30 pm.
The aim of the day is to determine a strategy to help us connect with the community and live into our calling to be a vibrant and growing community in Christ that exists not just for the benefit of its members but the wider community. This may consist of some possible projects/programmes or a further course of action to help us discern what God is calling us to be and do. Children are welcome to be part of this and we will ensure they are included and can participate.
The Mission Planning Day will enable all members of the congregation (and those who are on the fringe) to contribute thoughts, ideas, hopes, dreams and concerns to the process. Through structured conversations on the day we will develop a way forward. From the input provided on the day we will be able to prepare a plan and strategy for the congregation that will give us a direction with some ideas to develop and try.
This day will not provide all the answers, nor will it be the end of the process. Some work will be required to develop a realistic plan and then we need to act, to do something. We will try some different things – some will work and others won’t. We will learn and make adjustments and offer what little we have to God who will take it and multiply our efforts for the sake of God’s Reign in this world, of which we are part.
We ask of you 3 things:
1. Come along on the day and encourage others to come – all involved in the various activities of the congregations are welcome.
2. Pray for the day! Pray that we will be able to listen to God’s Spirit and follow where we are led. Pray that we will have honesty in the process and courage to listen, learn and pursue new directions that God calls us into. Pray!
3. Dream and yearn! Please prepare yourself for this day and think about what you would like to see us be and do. What does your dream for Engadine look like? What would you like us to be in 5 years? Do you dare to dream, to yearn – to believe?
We look forward to seeing you on June 4 at 9:00 am at Engadine Uniting Church. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with questions, thoughts or ideas before then.
